• Grüne Milch und anderes

Illustrated novel and reading with live drawing for kids from the age of 10

If boredom had a name, it would be Lechtinghausen. «It’s central», says No’s father. «Ten minutes to town, ten minutes to the lake. What more can you want?»
No did want more. But that almost went awry.

No does not only love words but gets them from her grandfather all the time. She is an intelligent and cheeky girl. People forgive her these traits because she is not virtuous on top. Quite the opposite. Sometimes, she gets another pupil in a headlock or hatches bold plans to help her friend To, who moved here from Sweden during summer holidays, forget his homesickness.

    Extract:
Actually, I was not sure whether To would have become my friend if he had found somebody amongst the boys. I am a girl. But I could play soccer and take other people in a headlock just like most boys in my class. And when our teacher talked about «our project for prevention of violence in schools», she always looked coldly in my direction. She squinted despite her glasses, and one could never be sure where she was looking. So if she stared in my direction, I pretended it was none of my business. The others laughed about that and I laughed along. That was a good line of attack.
